The Betterment Of Our Community

The Development Trust is supported by over 350 members, over 120 registered volunteers, 20 core volunteers and led by a Board of Trustees that are all local to the area. Since 2010, we have developed a strong community consultation programme. First, working with Development Trust Association Scotland when we received funding from Awards for All to carry out a full community consultation to gather feedback from all members of the community on what they would like to see introduced into the Community. At first, we predicted a response rate of 10% but were excited to discover it was actually over 20%. This response shows how supportive our community is of the project to develop a fit for purpose community facility in our ever-expanding community.

Since then, we regularly consult our community through our engagement projects every quarter and use the ‘Planning for Real’ tool when supporting the work of the Rosewell Neighbourhood Plan 2015 – 2020. Our consultations give our community the opportunity to tell us what we’re doing right, what they’ve enjoyed, what they would like to see introduced or improved.

Since April 2013, Fiona has delivered the Community Engagement, Volunteer and Employability projects all made possible with funding from The Scottish Government, The Robertson Trust and Voluntary Action Fund. Fiona can be contacted between 10 – 4, Monday to Friday within the Rosewell Resource Centre, 85 Carnethie Street.

Wonders of the Woodland Outdoor Classroom

We held an Opening Event for this brand new facility in Rosewell in 2017 and the event was attended by over 150 children, young people, adults and partnership organisations. We hope you enjoy this brief snapshot into the day and after watching, if you’re interested in booking the space for parties, groups or training sessions (which we can tailor and deliver to any group), get in touch via email.
